In your case, that would mean removing your hard drive and hooking it up to another computer and make it slave, that way you can transfer your important documents to the other computer's hard drive before trying to clean any infection! PLEASE!!! my wifes computer died a month ago (it was old) and so we put all of our pictures on this one. something is still wrong though, and I can't figure it out. I checked the registry and it isn't that explorer is missnamed. this thing seems to have everything locked out. I have run every spyware virus program I can. so now I have regedit back, and my taskmanager. it just didn't do anything when I clicked on it. it wouldn't even let me run regedit directly. I have taskmanager back because I created a batchfile in notepad and ran it to run regedit. I have to manually find things and run them. It won't let me search for files on my computer either. It wiped out my backups and restore points, locked me out of CMD and run, removed my task manager option and my taskbar, start button, and all desktop functionality. This thing has reeked havok on my computer. long story short, I had shut down my firewall for a minute to check the speed difference because my cable company said it was the reason for my slow internet service. Ok, I got a virus, and I am working with AVG to get rid of it.
